The death of a tyrannical king ushers in the prosperity of a divine ruler.

_Dorhe is king of the Circeae system. He is tyrannical and unfeeling. And dying. He once was Logia, but fell in corruption. Prodded by the emerging Strages, he orders the death of the heir to his throne—Ternion. The Logia dignitaries have assigned two new Protectors to ensure Ternion’s survival until Dorhe is dead. Martin and Rania Scott are Logia, from the line of Griffin Criswell. Rania is cousin to Arima, Ternion’s mother. After the murder of Ternion’s father, they travel the Circeae system in an effort to hide Ternion from the evil Dorhe.

At age seven, Ternion insists on facing Dorhe. It is here He displays His divinity in binding Dorhe, offering forgiveness, and sending him to Eternity.

After years of His rule, remnants of the Strages followers manage to reach the Alexander family. Rania and Martin are slowly poisoned. Rania becomes very sick and dies, while Martin is affected mentally. He takes his daughter Cadence to Galliard, hiding away from the rest of the system. He changes their names to Alexander Caden and Alexandra (Lexi/Alex) Caden.
