Two pilots. Two paths. One enemy.

Meet Alex Martin. Her father’s suicide propels her to join the ranks of the Legacy. However, she is too young, and instead signs up for Zenith Prep. Her knowledge of spacecraft engines grants her many accolades, and she eventually becomes a Zephyr pilot. An alarming incident results in a taxing injury while a friendship with a superior officer triggers an interrogation. When the officer is killed, Alex is approached by the Ghosts. Her allegiance falls to the Ghosts, and she is assigned to a reconnaissance mission. She becomes a member of the extraordinary Excelsior squadron.

Meet Brendan Faulkner. As a young pilot, he impressed his officers and earned quick promotions. A strained relationship with his older brother leads to trouble when Brendan agrees to let his brother’s ill-trained girlfriend pilot a ship. Her fatal crash will keep Brendan from allowing women to fly under his command. He soon forms the Excelsior squadron, an aerobatic space formation performance team. When Alex shows up in the briefing room, Brendan scrambles to get her reassigned.

Enter Typhon Langler. A dangerous man with an even more dangerous agenda. He is the admiral over the Glory, the warship that houses the Excelsior squadron. He’s onto Alex, but he plans to toy with her. He refuses Brendan’s request to transfer her to another unit. But when the squadron is practicing their drills, Langler orders the Glory to fire on Alex’s ship. Brendan quickly learns how he really feels about Alex. And Alex finds strength beyond herself to become more than she ever thought possible.
